Healthscope medical centres

Adviser to private equity on their unsuccessful acquisition of Healthscopes portfolio of medicalcentres. This included sourcing a well credentialed management team and developing the investment thesis.

Background

Healthscope put up for sale its portfolio of 48 patient care facilities, comprising 43 medical centres, four skin clinics and one breast diagnostic clinic. The portfolio was underperforming on the whole and was considered non-core to Healthscope.

333 Capital was engaged by private equity with previous investments in the space and looking for help to better understand the asset and to develop views on an appropriate valuation.

Our approach

333 Capital provided advice and support to our client across a range of areas including:

  • review and diligence of sales material
  • preparation of analysis and industry research to support the investment thesis
  • building an investment/valuation model
  • providing advice on appropriate valuation
  • preparation of investment committee papers
  • sourcing a well credentialed management team to drive the turnaround of the asset and support the investment thesis.

Outcome

Our client was ultimately unsuccessful in the acquiring the asset and the asset was sold to a trade player. 333 Capital were able to provide the client with a strong understanding of the asset and the industry. The client was grateful for the various material we produced for them and was particularly impressed with the management team we sourced, requesting to maintain contact with them for future transactions.
